Calibrated Gemstone Size Guide

Calibrated gemstones are cut to consistent, standard millimeter sizes so they fit standard jewelry settings without custom sizing. Melee sizes

Our smallest calibrated stones start around 1mm, commonly used for pavé work, accent stones and channel settings. These are found in our Jeweler-Ready Gemstone Layouts collection.

Mid-range sizes

Stones in the 2mm to 5mm range are our most common sizes for ring, earring, bracelet and necklace layouts — large enough to show color and cut clearly, small enough for calibrated, consistent settings. These appear throughout our Ring & Earring Gemstone Sets and Bracelet & Necklace Gemstone Layouts collections.

Center and statement sizes

Larger single stones, generally 6mm and above, are typically sold individually as center stones for rings or pendants rather than in calibrated sets. When ordering a calibrated layout or parcel, the listing states the minimum and maximum measurement across the group, so every stone falls within a known, consistent range — important for jewelers setting multiple stones in one piece.
